Spring Cleaning with your Dog

When it comes to living with a dog, we've all been faced with a few stinky, mucky, and hairy situations. As a dog owner, keeping your home clean can be a daunting task. But it doesn't have to be! With a few simple tricks, you can maintain a clean and healthy environment for you and your pet.

Here are 12 tips to help you kick-start your Spring clean:

Upgrade your dog's bed: Invest in a good quality dog bed that is easy to clean. This will help to keep your pet comfortable and reduce the amount of fur and dirt in your home.

Blankets: Use washable blankets to cover your furniture and pet beds. This will make it easy to clean and will protect your furniture.

Invest in a quality natural broom: Use a natural broom to clean your floors. It will pick up pet hair and dirt without spreading it around.

Tackle their toys: Wash your pet's toys regularly. Repair broken toys if it is safe to do so and donate any your dog doesn’t play with (still in good condition) to local charities and shelters.

Use pet-friendly cleaning products: Use cleaning products that are safe for your pet. Avoid products that contain harsh chemicals, which can be harmful to your pet. Make sure to keep all cleaning chemicals stored in a locked cupboard.

Clean their collar and harness: Regularly wash your dog's collar and harness. This will help to keep unwanted odours away and reduce the risk of infection.

Brush your dog regularly: If your dog sheds, be sure to brush them regularly to remove any excess hair and dirt. This will help to keep your pet's coat healthy too!

Your dog's food store: Keep your pet's food store clean and tidy. Keep any open wet food covered in the fridge and dry food in a storage tin.

Pet friendly air fresheners: Use scented candles or air fresheners to keep your home smelling fresh. Just make sure they are safe for your dog and kept out of reach.

Clean out your car: If you take your pet in your car, aim to clean it regularly. Or purchase a boot/seat liner which can be easily removed and cleaned.

Clean any soft furnishings: Vacuum your soft furnishings regularly to remove pet hair and dirt. Use a lint roller to deal with any finer hair the vacuum couldn’t lift.

Keeping your home and dog clean doesn't have to be difficult. With these simple tips, you can maintain a clean and healthy environment for you and your pet. Remember to schedule a weekly clean and keep your supplies handy so you can enjoy a clean and happy home with your furry friend!
